Calderone glacier view from normal route to Corno Grande East peak (2903 m asl). This glacier, the southernmost glacier of Europe, is subject to a marked retreat in the last decades. In background there is the Corno Grande West peak (2912 m asl, highest point of the Apennines range), formed by carbonate rocks.
