Climate change and glaciers
Grand Croux centrale lake is a proglacial lake that has started to form in 2000 increasing its volume from a few cubic meters to nearly 50.000 mc at present.
The lake gave evidence of a subglacial outburst flood in recent years but now, as the volume increases, it becomes dangerous for the villages below in the valley. This situation moved the local goverment to install monitoring systems of the lake and, at thesame time, to artificially reduce the water level
