Great Aletsch Glacier at sunrise
Great Aletsch Glacier as seen from Betmer Alp/Mosfluh in Kanton Wallis, Switzerland. The morning sun puts an orange tint to the peaks of Gross Wannenhorn and Fiescher Gabelhorn, contrasting with the blueish color of the glacier. Flow patterns are clearly visible on the glacier as debris is carried along the stream lines. As almost all alpine glaciers the Aletsch loses mass due to warning temperatures.
