Roche mountonnée . .
Glacially polished roche moutonnée in Göschenen Valley, central Alps. The shape of this outcrop results from the combination of two glacial erosion processes, abrasion of a smooth rock polish upflow, and plucking of entire blocks downflow. On this photo the early Autumn snowline also coincides with the trimline, the upper limit of glacier erosion, visible on the opposite valley side.
