The wonderful home of pink flamingos
by Florent Hodel, Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France
Surrounded by sleeping and active volcanoes, Laguna Colorada is one of the mythical places of South-Lipez. Perched at more than 4000 meters on the bolivian Alti-plano, this volcanic laguna owes its color to microscopic red bacterias which make the delight of pink flamingos.
