by Marcus Schiedung, University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland
The El Tatio is a geyser field located at 4,300 m.a.s.l. in the Chilean part of the Andes. It is the third largest geyser field in the world. In the morning you can see water of more than 100°C encountering freezing cold air (-15°C or less) and meandering on the frozen ground.
