Tuawera - The Rock That Leads the Way
Cave Rock (Tuawera), Sumner Beach, Pegasus Bay, New Zealand
The photograph shows a rocky sea cave formed in volcanic rocks, opening onto a beach. The interior of the cave is dark, creating a strong contrast with the bright daylight outside. Through the irregular, arch-shaped opening, a calm blue sea stretches toward the horizon, with small waves breaking among dark rocks near the shore. Wet sand covers the cave floor and reflects the blue sky and patches of sunlight. The rough, uneven cave walls are brown and golden where they are illuminated by the sun, while most of the surrounding rock remains in deep shadow.
