Wound in mountain peak
This massive rock fall at the east face of Mt.Tasman, Southern Alps, New Zealand, leaves an obvious 'wound' on the mountain and deposited a significant amount of debris on the glacier beneath. Such collapses of rock walls have been unusual frequent during the austral summer 2021/2022 and may be related to increasing permafrost degradation due to high air temperatures.
