
Civita di Bagnoregio - The Dying Town

This little town in the Italian countryside is famous because it is slowly eroding away. The volcanic rocks on which the village was built overlie marine clay deposits, which now appear as the sharply eroded ridges surrounding Civita di Bagnoregio.
