
Soil erosion favored by agriculture

Inappropriate practices such as tillage perpendicular to the contour lines promotes soil loss. In the picture, you can see the difference in performance at the top of the slope (with limited germination and plant growth) and lower slope (where nutrient-rich sediments accumulate). Soil type is Haplic Calcisol.
