Andalusite nails in wooden slates
Wooden door frame of a traditional rural house in Atenor (NE Portugal) made of chiastolitic slates. The large andalusite blasts are syntectonic with HT-LP metamorphism and synorogenic extensional phenomena related to the Variscan orogeny.
