Coloured sediments of Rudice beds
by Luděk Vecsey
Lower Cretaceous sediments of the Rudice Formation (known as Rudice beds) are full of colours covering almost the entire spectrum of the visible light. The almost 70-m-thick sediment formation lies on an undulating relief with deep depressions and it contains layers of kaolinic quartzy sands, chert materials, varicoloured kaolinic clays and brown-reddish iron-rich sands.
