Strom Lothar
by Maria Bostenaru Dan, "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism, Bucharest, Romania
Lothar is the name of a cyclone which affected Central Europe on the 26th of December 1999. Particularly the Black Forest Mountains forests were affected. The name Black Forest comes from the dark colour of fir trees, and these trees cannot develop deep roots when not in the mountains. The city of Karlsruhe lays in the plane. This photo was taken in the city-forest of Karlsruhe, a park around the castle the city was developed around in the Baroque time.
