Prayer flags in the Wild West
by Heijn van Gent, Structural Geology, Tectonics and Geomechanics, RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany
During a field trip in the vicinity of Moab, we found quite unexpectedly a row of Buddhist prayer flags, hanging from a block of stratified sandstones. This image is taken looking towards the Abajo Mountains in the South, with in the 'mid-ground' several exposed sandstone fins can be seen.
