A seismite in the Lisan Formation, pre Dead Sea lake deposits

The Lisan Formation was deposited in a lake during the last glacial period over a section of the Dead Sea Fault. Earthquakes associated with fault slip left their mark as deformed bottom sediments, providing a ~50-kyr-long record of seismites. The photo shows an example of a seismite, in which earthquake vibrations shattered the laminae and redeposited the fragments in an upward-fining order.
