The road to the Rogun dam
To address its energy crisis, particularly in winter, Tajikistan is counting on the Rogun dam and hydrop-power project. Rogun dam will be the world's highest embankment dam (335 meters) with a reservoir that will displace thousands of people from mountain villages upstream from the dam. Many people have been forced to relocate to lands less fertile than what they had before, and are left to themselves to build their new homes.
