Walking on ash

This pine forest (Gorga, Alicante, eastern Spain) was affected by a severe wildfire in 2011. 24 h after the wildfire, research groups of the Univ. Miguel Hernández and Univ. of Sevilla joined to plan experimental work and restoration measures.
In the picture, I am walking on one of the ash-covered slopes.
