Sheared and rotated almandine garnet in Precambrian gneiss from Estonia
by Sophie Graul, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn, Estonia and France
Microphotograph presents an almandine garnet with biotite inclusions. Deformation indicates significant shearing, and the lower part has been dissolved due to a micro-fault.
Host rock is a biotite-graphite gneiss located in Uljaste, Alutaguse province, East Estonia; and related to the Svecofennian oreogenic system.
