Sheared sulphides vein in biotite gneiss from the Estonian Precambrian basement
Sophie Graul

Polished section of a biotite-gneiss sample from the Uljaste area, Alutaguse region, Estonia. The rock is related to the Svecofennian orogeny.
The sulphides in the vein and disseminated matrix are dominantly pyrrhotite. But the core, with a more golden shade, is composed of chalcopyrite. Grey flakes are graphite.
The photograph was taken at CEITEC in the framework of the EXCITE network.
