Lavender fields on the horizon
The Valensole plateau is calcareous with clay-rich soils. Bathed in sunshine and well-drained, it offers the perfect terroir for lavender but also sage, wheat, and almond and olive trees. The limestone provides structure and minerals, while clay retains water and nutrients for the plants. This, combined with the hot, dry summers and mild winters of the Mediterranean climate, creates an idyllic environment for both plants and humans.
