Crater lake volcano Copahue - Southern Andes
View above the steaming crater lake of Copahue volcano looking to the west in the Patagonian Andes. After ash emission prior to 2019 the crater is now filled with a hot and high acidic crater lake formed by melt water. In the background the summit glacier is visible. The fine ash layers in the glacier are evidence for recurring activity.
