The Tufa Towers Awaken
Impressive limestone formations rise from the Mono Lake, California, USA. These so called tufa towers consist primarily of calcium carbonate minerals such as calcite. Originally, they developed from the bottom of the lake, and take decades or even centuries to from into an impressive limestone column. With falling lake levels indirectly caused by the city Los Angeles, they are awakened from the lake.
