
Fault core of Northern Boundary Fault

The Northern Boundary Fault's core is a prominent morphological feature of the Hayl al Shaz area. Jurrasic limestones on the left (northern) side are juxtaposed to Upper Cretaceous rocks of the Shu'aiba Formation. This is a normal offset of approximately 800m. Note the fault core being a rigid wall in the front and in the background, where thick strata packages are tilted. The fault is heavily cemented and full of calcite veins.
