View from a landslide in the Longmenshan Mountains, China
Anne-Sophie Mreyen
Liège, Belgium
This photo was taken on a natural hazards fieldtrip in the Sichuan province, China. A huge landslide (right on the photo) was reactivated during heavy rainfalls in October 2016, causing damming in the valley together with the formation of a lake. The new landslide occured within a massive landslide triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan event (M 8.0).
