Orographic Wave Clouds over the Strait of Messina

Over the Strait of Messina, a lenticular cloud forms at the crest of an atmospheric wave above the sea and a line of coastal rocks. Undulating cirrostratus and thinner, widely spaced streaks trace the airflow aloft, shaped by the interaction of stable winds with the surrounding topography.
