Lake Koronia (also known as Aghios Vasilios lake)near Thessaloniki, Greece, completely dried up in November 2009. The lake had an area of 450 km2 and a depth of up to 5 m during the 70s, and had shrunk to 100 km 2 with a depth 0.5-1 m during the beginning of the 2000s. Here it is completely dried up. The shrinkage and drying are the result of field irrigation.
