Sunlit ARM site at Ascension Island
The Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Mobile Facility (AMF) was deployed at Ascension Island from 2015-2017. During an extensive measurement campaign in summer 2017, several UK, US, and EU mainland research teams joined up to perform ground-based remote sensing and air-borne in-situ measurements of radiation, clouds, and aerosols. Late one afternoon the researchers were treated to a fantastic spectacle of sun rays being reflected in low altitude drizzling clouds over the AMF site, just as the sun was setting.
