Coastal aeolian fieldwork
by Glenn Strypsteen, KU Leuven, Bruges, Belgium
This was a picture taken at sunset during a wintery measurement campaign at Koksijde, a micro-tidal beach at the Belgian coast backed by coastal sand dunes. During the campaign, I measured wind-blown sand transport during windy and cold conditions. I used Modified Wilson and Cook sand traps to measure total amount of transported sand, two meteorological stations to measure wind regime and two saltiphones to measure transport intensity. It is not as sharp as I wanted to have, but for handheld shooting in harsh weather conditions I guess it's allright.
