The heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains
by Jennifer Ziesch, State Authority for Mining, Energy and Geology, Hannover, Germany
During a trip through the Canadian Rocky Mountains last summer I saw one of the most beautiful place on earth: The glacially-fed Moraine Lake in the Banff National Park, Canada. The lake is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The beautiful blue colour is due to the mix of glacier water and rock flour.
