Icerberg off Newfoundland coast, Canada

by Simon Massé

Cape Spear is the easternmost location in North America. Located a few kilometers from Newfoundland largest city, St. John's, Cape Spear attracts many local people and tourists during spring and early summer to enjoy the immensity of icebergs. These 10,000-year-old ice giants drift along the northern shore of Newfoundland with the Labrador Current. About 90% of these 10,000-year-old ice giants that dring along the northern shore of Newfoundland come from glaciers calving in western Greenland. Newfoundland is one of the few places in the world where people can contemplate icebergs from the shore.
