Walk at the beach...
by Dirk Simon
Impressive chevron folds at the rough coastline of north Cornwall exposed to the setting sun on a clear and cold autumn afternoon. I chose this picture, because it demonstrates how dynamic and active our planet (EGU2016 theme - active planet) is today and was in the past. While the rock layers visualise deformation of our Earth's crust that happens over millions of years, the interplay between the cold air and the warm sun determine the weather condition which, at this coast, can change within minutes.
