by Mattia Pistone, University of Lausanne (UNIL), Lausanne, Switzerland

Two-pyroxene porphyritic andesite lava flow deposit of 1906 eruption (age based on report from local observer), with well-developed levees, which extends from Kanaga Volcano summit east for 2.5 km. This photo was taken by Mattia Pistone during the field campaign aboard the R/V Maritime Maid, part of the NSF-funded Shared Platform for Aleutians research for the 2015 field season.
