Circles of life and safety
by Lutz Merbold
These are cattle enclosures in South Central Kenya. The animals are kept within the fences over night to avoid predation and theft. Due to continuous deposition of feaces the areas surrounding the enclosures (bomas in East Africa, kraals in South Africa) are extremly fertile and allow for enhanced vegetation growth.
