The long way down from the Red Crater
The hike down from the Red Crater to the Blue lake along the Tongariro Crossing, New Zealand. The imposing Mt Ngauruhoe (or Mt Doom from Lord of the Rings) is present in the background. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing takes you across an amazing landscape of an active volcanic system, past hot springs and around active craters!
