Cracks may separate land, but nature always finds a way to fill the void
These are the Victoria Falls in Zambia and Zimbabwe. This picture was taken during the low flows in Zambia. The tiny water fall on the right is in Zambia, but the larger one in the middle is located in Zimbabwe. During high flows, the Victoria Falls changes into a massive wall of water. Then the entire right part of the picture would be water! Did you know the zigzagging gorges downstream of the Victoria Falls indicate past locations of the falls? The waterfalls have been receding upstream as a result of the many cracks in the basaltic rocks. Currently, there are eight previous sites and the next location is already visible to the experienced eye, even though it takes about 10,000 years until it is fully shifted.
