Raná in the volcanic České středohoří Mts
by Luděk Vecsey
The České středohoří volcanic complex is one of two post-Variscan intra-plate alkaline volcanisms in the Bohemian Massif with the principal activity initiated in the latest Eocene and continued until the Early Miocene. Present-day mountain range is intersected by the Elbe River and characterized by mountains with a unique cone shape rising from the surrounding flatland. The photo was taken from Raná, a hill where each climb is different – and beautiful.
