Malta: Sunrise from Tigné Point near Sliema
by Wolfgang Fraedrich, Hamburg, Germany
Sunrises are very visible in many parts of the world. A particularly impressive event was the sunrise east of Malta on September 25, 2017 (6:51 am CEST (= 4:51 am UTC) - observed from Tigné Point in the east of the village of Sliema on the northeast coast of Malta. Watching a sunrise becomes a special one experience, when you observe it from the absolute darkness. On the deep black sky you can see various constellations, Venus as a morning star stands above the horizon, over which soon a bright streak appears. The (in Malta quite short) phase of the dusk begins, it gradually becomes lighter and brighter, until the sun gradually rises behind the horizon. The picture shows the sun only a few minutes after its rising.
