Sinkhole sideview from an aerial survey at the Dead Sea shoreline
by Djamil Al-Halbouni, Deutsches Geoforschungszentrum, Potsdam, Germany
An alternative angle-of-view shows the fascinating sinkholes and stream channel structures that appear at the Dead Sea shoreline. The photo, taken from a helium balloon during strong winds, shows the Moab mountains in the background and sinkholes on lots of scales related to subsurface discharge.
