Freshwater Pool in Basalt
by Bob MacNeal
One of many freshwater pools in the a basalt-anchored tombolo that forms a harbor along the north shore of Lake Superior (Artist's Point, Grand Marais, Minnesota). The naturally occurring color, scoring and fractures in the rock are reminiscent of the ancient Anasazi pictographs of the American southwest.
