Westerhever Lighthouse
by Wolfgang Fraedrich, Hamburg, Germany
The lighthouse of Westerhever lies outside the dykes on a mound which is 4 meters high. The lighthouse itself is about 40 meters high. It was built in 1906. It is widely known and the typical landmark of the Eiderstedt peninsula in western Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state in Germany. Inside of one of the houses there is a small exibition center of the "Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer". The view of the tower with the two identical houses is from northwest.
