Geoscience in the city

Avatar

by Konstantinos Kourtidis, Demokritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece

A house fire that spread to the wooden roof of the house, emitting large quantities of smoke particles. The high temperatures of the fire and smoke raise the smoke plume and cause extensive turbulence in the stable cool air of the winter atmospheric boundary layer.
