Alpine Choughs over the Aletsch Glacier - Switzerland

by Frederik Tack, Institute for Space Aeronomy, Brussels, Belgium

This picture was taken from the Sphinx Observatory (3571 m ASL), located above the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, after carrying out repairs to our MAX-DOAS instrument for atmospheric research.
There is simply something magic about this place: The silence, solitude, sheer beauty, the feeling of freedom and awe. All of this is reflected well in the picture of the Alpine Choughs flying over the Aletsch Glacier.
