Inside the iceberg
by Daniele Penna, University of Florence, Firenze, Italy
Icebergs are dynamic system that don’t simply move floating in the water but that also show a high complexity in their internal morphometric composition. This picture is a close up of a little iceberg found in an internal fjord in Alaska, USA. The photo, taken with a fast shutter speed from a boat floating on the still fjord water, allows one to distinguish the intricate patterns and the shine of the globular ice forms constituting the iceberg.
