Arctic Glacier Stream
by Martin Brummell, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada
The bed of the stream that drains the east side of Twin Glacier at the head of the valley to the south of Alexandra Fjord, Ellesmere Island, Canada, is devoid of visible life. Only a few small patches of algae growing on the coarse sandy bottom can be found this close to the glacier.
