by Hedieh Soltanpour, Ph.D candidate
The splendid view of the white travertine terraces from a hot air balloon. Known as cotton castles, they represent a natural formation of mineral pools created by the flow of hot spring water rich in calcite minerals. This landform is located in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey.
