The green amphitheater

Pian della Nana, in the Brenta Dolomites (Italy), is an alpine prairie environment. A mountain plateau at an altitude of around 2000 meters, with thousands of marmots having colonized the environment by tunneling kilometers under the grassy surface. The most represented geological formation is the Scaglia Rossa, a marine sedimentary rock with fine-grained limestone lithology mainly of brick red colour, which can change to white, yellow and ash gray. The red colour derives from the dispersion in the calcareous mass of iron oxides.
