Outcrop of the Galata Formation (Miocene) along the Black Sea cost is representing a meandering, sand dominated river system, composed of several channels and the associated point bars, overbank, and crevasse splay deposits. These represent a wide variety of sand- and silt- dominated channel and levee lithofacieses, formed by paleo-Kamchia River. In this unit are located the last two natural gas discoveries in the Bulgarian Black Sea shelf. The picture is taken during the measurements whitin the project "Multidisciplinary approach for fluvial architecture modelling and reservoir properties estimation" for practical training of students in Geophysics.
