Under the sea, in the deep, where fire meets water and life emerges II
View of high-temperature fluid venting chimneys on the top of a hydrothermal mound at the Jan Mayen Vent Fields (650 m depth). These structures result from the interaction of seawater circulating through the oceanic crust and the Earth’s internal heat, and supports unique ecosystems that are likely analogues for possible life in other parts of our solar system.
