Zircon in the drop of the ocean

Zircon grains separated out from a Paleozoic granitoid (Slavonian Mts., Croatia) and inserted in the epoxy resin as a step in the preparation for the geochemical analysis and age dating with the LA-ICP-MS. Photo is taken after the laser ablation (visible dark spots as the craters left) with the aid of petrographic microscope under crossed polarizers. Magnification 25x.
