Glacier meltwater river Greenland

This photo shows glacier meltwater from the Greenland Ice Sheet thundering over a waterfall near Kangelussuaq in west Greenland. Measurements of water flow and sediment concentration enabled us to estimate the rate at which the ice erodes the underlying bedrock.
